Welcome to my blog. I am venturing into new territory so I hope you will bear with me while I fumble my way into the world of blogging. I thought I would start my blog by explaining why I chose Three Weddings for my title. It is not, as my oldest daughter thought it sounded like, because I've been married 3 times. Nope, once is enough for me, thank you very much. The title was actually inspired by my husband.
From as young as I can remember, all I've wanted in life was to get married and have children. Four to be exact - girl, boy, girl, boy - one to two years apart. I'd get married young and start having children in my early 20's. There was no way I wanted to be in my 50's when my children were in high school. No need for college. I was going to stay home and raise my little family. Well, as many of you know, God sometimes has other plans for us. Good thing I went to college and got that degree because it helped put my husband through law school. I also majored in criminal justice and really enjoyed my career.
Family life was put on hold till my husband got through law school. (Some people can be so selfish. Like you need to study to get your degree or something.) So once my husband finished law school and took the bar I announced I was done waiting! On the day my husband found out he passed the bar I found out I was pregnant with our 1st child. He's been one-upped ever since. We didn't want to find out what we were having with our first child so waited till the birth to learn we were having a girl! All right, my plans were a little delayed, but all was back on track.
Our first daughter came along so quickly that we waited till we wanted to have another before we tried again. Well, God stepped in again and 6 years later (not 2) we had another girl. Ok, I can deal with that, I like girls. After all, I am one. At this point, my husband would have been happy to stop, but I needed one more. Since it took 6 years to have another child 4 was out of the question but 2 just wasn't enough. I was in my mid-30's afterall. (Yep, gonna be 55 when my youngest graduates high school!) Of course with the difficulty we had getting pregnant with our second child, there was no guarantee there would be another. Thankfully we were blessed with one more child.
During the sonogram of our third child we did want to know the sex. There were some scares during the first trimester of this pregnancy so we were happy to know all looked well during the sonogram. Oh, and by the way, it's a girl. Strike 3 for dear old dad. His comment when the sonogram tech annouched the sex of the baby, "Great, another wedding!"
So, welcome to my blog. I hope you enjoy it.

I do! I do! I enjoy it!
I love the picture of your dear littlest one. Our baby is the only one we found out the gender of before birth, too. We're ever so glad that we did. The shock of his DS was enough. We seriously wanted a girl. I would have had such guilt being all bummed about a boy on top of that. God knows so much more than I do. Obviously.
WOW!
You just started blogging and YOU were the token FIRST commenter on DAWN'S blog!
GO GIRL!
I enjoyed learning more about you and look forward to more of your mom-isms!
Welcome to the world of blogging. We have three girls as well. College grad., Senior in college, Jr. in H.S. The minute I saw the name of your blog I knew what you were talking about.
I've drawn a few cartoons and posted them on my blog that I think you husband can relate to. If you have time... look for my Family Practice post.
Good luck with those girls. Tell your husband that it takes a special man to be the father to girls.

Welcome to the blogging world! What a great 1st post. And I had to figure out just how old I would be when my youngest graduates since you mentioned it. I'll be 53 or 54? He has a late birthday so I may be 54 then. God has a sense of humor, doesn't He. He always seems to laugh at the plans we make for our lives. I wanted 2 kids, a boy and a girl, and I wanted them close in age. I after all, did NOT want to have them 7 yrs apart like my mom did between me and my brother! I can't tell you how many times I used to say, "I'll never have my kids that far apart!" Well, I had 3 kids- boy-girl-boy and they are each 7 yrs apart! And I have 2 step-sons, so we have a total of 5 kids! My only daughter was born with Down syndrome. So, come over and meet me and my Gabi!
As the youngest of 3 girls, I did think this is what you were referencing.
I'll be back to read more when I can.
Thinking of starting a blog - not decided yet.
Till next time then - KR
Hi Deb,
I wasn't sure where to leave this comment, so decided to leave it here on your first post. A post that appears to have sparked a wonderful blog.
I, too, am a blogger. I have nearly a year behind me and have two blogs. One of my blogs is about "blogging" and I share what I have learn/have learned, with others. Blogging is so great for sharing, isn't it.
Anyway, last month I decided it was time to "pay it forward" by finding new bloggers, and showcasing them for a one week period on my blog, in a section (top sidebar) called "New Blog Of The Week".
I have spent many hours searching for new bloggers, and oftentimes am disappointed as I find many blogs filled with ads, and little to no great content. I wrote a post and asked my loyal readers and commenters for help. As the result of a email, you were nominated, and chosen.
What I love about your blog, is that you are helping others by sharing stories of your beautiful daughter Peanut, and other special needs children. Because of your openness, for some, you will be an "angel".
I am in the process of editing my post for today (2/12/08), where I will introduce you to my readers. Although my blog does not get massive traffic (yet), I do have great cyberspace friends who support and inspire me.
Come on by and meet the community of my blogging friends.
I'll be back later to read more of your blog. You're a true inspiration. Prayers to you and your family.
Hi, I saw your blog on the party and your title caught my attention. I am Debby with three weddings too, but different reasons. I have only been married once, but we had three ceremonies for the families and town hall. What fun we had.
I am so glad I read this post. I had wondered what the title meant.
How sweet!
I love this theme. It is beautiful! I also love this story. It's funny how God has different (but always better) plans for us than we do for ourselves. I too had to help put my hubby through school. We've been married almost eight years now (no kids yet) and he's been in school the majority of that time!! God has been very good to us though.
Lovely subject. What an incredible blessing!
what a great blog! so glad i checked it out. i recently purchased a beautiful communion bracelet from your sister, anna. (what a lovely woman) when i saw her DS awareness bracelet, i had to write to her to tell her how wonderful it was. she sent me the link to your website. i, too, am a mom of "three weddings". my precious girls are 8, 5 and 2. my middle daughter, ella has down syndrome. she is beautiful, smart and bull-headed! and we adore her! good luck with your girls. and a special hug for your little peanut!
