Get Dressed Already

Diva is my slow dresser. You get her up in the morning only to go back in several times to make sure she gets out of bed. Then she goes to the restroom and removes her pull -up and then proceeds to prance around her room in her jammie top and butt naked below. Every once in a while she will throw in a naked bottom shake. I don't know where she gets this stuff. I'm certainly not teaching it to her. This, of course, annoys MA to no end. Diva knows it bothers her so she only does it more.

This morning was no different except they have no school, so I am not running upstairs every five minutes to yell "get dressed" at her. So far this morning my husband has walked by and seen her playing with her dolls while still in her half naked state and I've told her at least once to get dressed. As I write this I can hear MA telling her to get dressed. So, you might say I am used to this. However, I was not prepared for what I saw about 10 minutes ago.

Typical to my children's nature, I hear her yelling from her room "UNDERWEAR!" Which of course means, I have no underwear in my drawer, I'm too lazy to look if there is any in the clean clothes that mom has folded, but not put away or sitting in laundry baskets; therefore, mom is supposed to drop everything and come running to my beck and call. Since MA was in the middle of a mean game of Wii Donkey Kong and my husband had his coat on to walk out the door for work, I made my treck upstairs -- again. (Who needs a Stairmaster.) I decided I would show Diva where to find her underwear in the clean but not put away clothes. When I got upstairs and she opened her bedroom door, I was greeted with a butt naked cowgirl. She had removed the rest of her jammies so she had absolutley no clothes on but a cowgirl hat and a stuffed animal cow in her hand.

All this before my morning coffee!

(For any perverts out there; No, I did not and will not take a picture and post it. Go somewhere else. In fact, Burgh Baby has the answer for you.)

I've been granted the opportunity to do a guest post on Joanna Young's Confident Writing blog. Joanna is a writing coach and her blog offers pointers for writers and bloggers. I have learned a lot from her on how to improve not only my writing skills but my blog as well. This month's feature theme is Leaps and Bounds. I hope you will drop by and check out how I am Pursuing a Dream.

LOL - this sounds very familiar, except for the half-naked part. Hannah is the one we have to fight with to get her up in the mornings and to get dressed, although she usually can be found curled up on the floor in as tiny a position as she can fit in - I'm not sure if she thinks we just won't see her? Her favorite excuse is 'my legs don't want to hold me up!'. Hmm, they hold her up quite well when she tries to escape back to her bed... :)

LOVE IT!! I was raised on a ranch, so I really appreciate this. How cute!

Diva sounds like her imagination is far too important to leave behind for clothes. Our Funny is always chatting away or singing and he forgets to eat, get dressed, and move any faster than molasses! Some days it's amusing, most it's very frustrating.

Hi Deb, I found you through your guest post on confident writing. And I've just been reading through some of your blog and it's great.

Do you really get weirdos messaging you? We had real problems with some woman and my teenage stepson online, so we reported her to the police and they're investigating it right now.

Here is a site where you can report them:

Catherine,
Welcome! I'm so glad you stopped by and you like what you read. In answer to your question: I have not had problems yet, but my background is in criminal justice and I am ever conscious of perverts (then again what mom isn't?) Plus after seeing Burgh Baby's recent post I was a little concerned about putting the word naked in a post and having it pop up in a Google search. I figured I'd be a little proactive. Thank you for the site, though. I will keep it in mind if I do have problems.

Hi sorry I'm a little late, just wanted to say thanks again for writing at my site. Having a guest author is like... having someone come in, open up the windows, let in some fresh air and sunshine, then leave a bunch of flowers on your mantelpiece.

Thank you!

Joanna

Great job on the guest post. and good luck on achieving your goal.

Regarding getting Miss D up and moving in the morning, have you ever tried any of the token economy reward systems? They have worked well for lots of people I've introduced to them. Email me if you want more info.

xoxo
