As I mentioned last week, I have not been sick in years! I am not kidding. Sure, I’ve had a cold or a “female day” from time to time, but even with a pregnancy and mild morning sickness, I’ve been able to function at least to some extent. However, this recent illness really knocked me out. I was in bed for 3 days and then for 2 more days I retreated to my bed after only short periods of time spent with the family. When I emerged from my illness this week, I found a mess in my kitchen, laundry piled to the ceiling and toys everywhere. I was grateful that I was closed for Spring Break this week so I could deal with my sick kids, my continued recovery and housecleaning. By Wednesday everyone was fever free and the weather was sunny and warm so I piled the girls in the van and GOT OUT OF THE HOUSE! It was bliss. My Spring break started out a little rough, but it has ended great.
Friday we went to see Disney on Ice -- during the day -- with my mom and sisters! I realize this may not sound like a big deal, but for me it is. With a daycare I can’t just close shop to do things like this. Parents need warning. There are some providers who will close often and without warning, but I don’t choose to run my business like that. I used to be the office working mom and I relied on my daycare. I needed to know I could depend on it to be open so I could work.
We did miss our trip to Colorado, but we’ll go another time. I decided not to host Easter at my house. I didn’t need the extra stress of preparing that meal, so my mother-in-law will host. I’ve almost caught up on laundry and all the rooms upstairs are cleaned and vacuumed. I’ll let the cleaning lady do the bathrooms on Tuesday. They’ve waited this long.
We also missed out on the annual egg dying at my parents. Every year we get all the cousins together to dye Easter eggs. This year my family stayed away because we didn’t want to get anyone sick. We had our own Easter egg dying party today. I got up this morning to boil the eggs. This is how NOT to boil eggs. I went upstairs to play on the computer and forgot that I was waiting for the water to boil. I got lucky and only lost 4 eggs.
I hope you all have a wonderful Easter and Sunday. I am taking tomorrow off from blogging to spend with family.

Glad you got to do your eggs.
We aren't even trying it yet..not with the little one being only 16 months old and liking to smash everything!
SOOOO fun...Jordan decided she was not interested in coloring eggs this year...boooo....is this a glimpse of the "too cool for you" teen years?!?
your girls are adorable. it looks like it was a great time had by all!
Happy Easter!
I forgot about my eggs too! When I finally turned the heat off, there was maybe an inch of water left in the pan. Oops!
Happy Easter - enjoy your day with family!!

Sara
So glad you are feeling better and up and about. I felt the same way after I started feeling better. I opened all the windows in the house to let out all the illness! You look adorable in the spring clothes!
Enjoy Easter with you family.
Hi Deb,
Our computer's been out of commission. I've been trying to catch up. Hope you're all feeling better.
And Happy Easter to you and your family.
Sorry everyone, I usually respond personally when possible, but not today, it's been a long night, so I'll respond here:
Hi Vasquez,
I don't remember ever being too cool to color eggs or my siblings for that matter. I sure hope my girls don't get to cool for it.:( Of course, I still like to color eggs so that would be more for me!
Hi Alicia,
Eew, were you able to salvage any?
Hi Melissa,
Thanks! I hope you had a nice Easter, too.
Hi Saralynn,
Welcome! I'm so glad you dropped by. I love how the internet connects people from so far away. Italy, cool! I'll stop by and visit later.
Hi Kidzmama,
I'm so glad the weather got nice. Earlier that week when there was still illness in the house it was cold and rainy and just made things all the more gloomy.
Hi Karla,
So glad you got your computer fixed. I hate when they break down. You feel so disconnected!
I'd rather overcook those egss than undercook them! I lost four eggs and that was doing them just as I am supposed to!
WHAT??? No pictures of the finished products! ;o)
I'm so glad to see you in more of the pictures with the girls. It is so important!!
