World Down Syndrome Day

Every day we celebrate our children's lives. We love to talk to them, play with them, watch them sleep. Sometimes they get on our nerves or make us angry, but in the end, we wouldn't trade them for the world. If your child happens to have special needs, you don't love that child any less. You don't necessarily love them any more, either. I love all my girls, and yet, I love them equally but differently. Each of my girls have their own personality. I relate to these aspects differently and love that individuality.

Today we are celebrating World Down Syndrome day. This day was chosen because March (3) represents tri and 21 represents the 21st Chromosome. Today is set aside to celebrate Down syndrome and people with Down syndrome. Since I write many posts on Down syndrome awareness, I thought today would be a good day to list a few of my favorite posts:

That Which Does Not Kill Us

Don't Be Sorry

What I Learned from People with Down syndrome

And yet the real reason to celebrate today is right here!

I love coming here. You have tought me so much about DS. Even though I've knows people with DS on an acquaintance level, I've never been close enough to learn to appreciate all of the wonderful things they have to offer. Thank you for allowing me a glimps inside that world.

They say that knowledge is power. And the knowledge you impart is doing such a terrific job of empowering the rest of us to go out and make positive changes in our own corners of the world. And for that I will be forever grateful.
