Did you get it? Did you figure out my Wordless Wednesday? Did you feel the tremor all over the United States that was my leaping for joy?
No? Well, let me explain. Wednesday (June 4) was my official last day. That's right, I am closing my daycare! For good! Forever! This daycare was never intended to be a long-term career. I got into it because I wanted to stay home with my girls but could not afford to do that without some sort of income. Diva was 14 months old at the time and MA was in second grade. The plan was for me to work 2 years and then I’d be able to close and be a full-time SAHM. Then Peanut came along (thankfully) and threw everything off schedule. Unfortunately, we are still not in a position for me to quit completely, but with all three girls in school I can find a part time job outside the home. But first, I get to take the summer off!
So what am I going to do? I’m TAKING BACK MY HOME! Gates are coming down! Baby toys are being sold! Highchairs and booster seats are out of here! Baby food, bottles, and utensils are history! I am going to have the garage sale to end all garage sales and what doesn’t sell is going to second hand stores or Goodwill.
We are doing major rearranging in our house, as well. We will be moving the main computer to the family room. Yes, I said it! I now have a family room! Now I can see what my girls are doing instead of having them hide away in the spare bedroom. The spare bedroom is being turned into the playroom with a television and toys. This means the girls no longer need to go to our room to watch television and drag their toys in there or pull all my clean clothes out of my drawer to wear all at the same time. Not to mention Hubby and I will be able to get dressed in peace. I’m going to start locking the door so they can’t get in. Shelves are being moved to the garage to help organize that disaster. MA will be getting Peanut’s room and Diva and Peanut will share the bigger bedroom. MA is very excited about this.
The work has already started and Hubby has already benefited. He was able to pull his car into the garage without worrying about taking out several items. I’m still not in the garage because my side is filled with MA’s new bedroom furniture. Soon, though, very soon!
In addition to all this I get to spend time with my kids! I get to go to the pool and the zoo and Deanna Rose Farmstead and lunch with my family or hubby. I get to go shopping during the weekday. I get to plan flute lessons and swim lessons and dance class early so we no longer have to rush dinner. Today I get to go to Peanut’s summer school and observe! I might even get my many, many flower gardens back in shape, although I’m not much of a gardener and I will need some help from all of you.
I’ve got a few other plans but I’ll share those with you on Monday. I’m even going to have my very first give-away …

Actually, I think between me and you, there must have been tremors all over the US... GRANDMA IS GONE!!!!!!!!
I told Ryan, "I think we should just walk around naked all night just because we can!"
Debbie, I'm so happy for you, sounds like you have a fun summer ahead of you!
How did the kids parents take the news when you decided to close the daycare?
A-ha, now that all makes sense... :) Congratulations!!
I can read the excitement in your voice Debbie. How wonderful!
This sounds like just what you need, and the extra time you'll have to create more memories with the girls will be priceless.
I'm looking forward to your next post.
Have a great and productive weekend.
Hi Puppies,
Thanks, I will.
Hi AZ,
Neither can MA! She's going to have to put up with the nursery border for a little while but I have a feeling she won't mind.
