Potpourri

It has been crazy around here lately. We continue to take back the house and have made a lot of progress. Our bedroom is now a kid free zone. They do occasionally wander in and takeover the bed but for the most part we are no longer tripping over toys or turning the television on to Noggin. The daycare room is no more. Our computer has been moved downstairs and the computer/guest room is now the kid's playroom. It is constantly destroyed, but at least the disaster stays, for the most part, confined!

This weekend we were supposed to move the girls into their new rooms. Unfortunately, life happened. I held a garage sale on Thursday and Friday. Wednesday I planned on setting up for it so all I had to do was open the doors Thursday morning. We came home from the farmer's market Wednesday and there was a message from a woman wanting to know how I was coming with a sash I had promised to make her. I had this project for at least a month and had completely forgotten about it! I started it Wednesday and was taking a break when the phone rang. I forgot to take MA to flute lessons. Hubby got home and we all piled in the car for a rescheduled lesson. We'd eat dinner while she had her lesson then drop off Diva at dance recital practice. Like every Wednesday, I left the car battery on, but turned off the engine. This Wednesday, the battery decided to die in the instructor's driveway and I had to get her husband to give us a jump start. Not trusting the car at that point, we had to go home and get the other car to go to dance practice.

Friday Hubby had to fly to Denver for a 45 minute meeting. He got back to KC and realized he forgot to get his keys at the security check in Denver. I had not closed up my garage sale so he had to sit at MCI till I could get the girls together and rescue him. We were going to move the beds that night, but since we didn't get home till late after eating dinner out, it was postponed till Saturday.

Saturday friends from Indianapolis wanted to go to Deanna Rose and then back to our house for lunch. It was a very nice visit, but when they left we immediately had to go to a Christmas in June party Hubby and the other manager were putting on for their staff. It was also a good time, until I thought it would be a good idea to drop my cell phone in my coke! It hasn't worked properly since.

Sunday I had to enter the domain of the Jayhawks **shudder** for Diva's dance recital. We had to be there by 9:30 for dress rehearsal and back at 12:30 for the show. We live 45 minutes from the Lied Center so we could not go home in between. Hubby had to come up later by himself. Don't even get me started on this location! I'd much rather have it held at the local high school.

We finally got the beds moved last night. This morning we will move the rest of the furniture and "stuff". Currently Peanut cannot play in either of her rooms because they are not safe for her.

I am sorry I don't have many pictures to show for all these events. I do have a bad video of Diva's practice. She's the one in the pink on the left side. The girl definitely has my nontalent but, like me, loves to dance!

Can I just say, I'm not sure how I feel about my 5 year old dancing to a song about wanting s-e-x. What ever happened to "Me and My Teddybear?" Oh, and if you are wondering how the Etsy store is coming; it's not.

Hi Lis,
Yeah, I've been feeling a little overwhelmed lately. I had a major meltdown on Saturday morning.

Hi AZ,
I'm sure some people wouldn't realize that, but if you are a child of the 80's, like me, you do. In fact, a friend commented on it when I told him what song she was dancing to.

ha ha... that video is too cute! I never knew that song was about sex.... I don't know how I didn't, but yea :)

Hi Moose,
Thanks for dropping by! To be honest, I'm not sure I always knew that's what the song was about either.

Wow, what a crazy full life you lead! I hope you are able to sit back and relax some this coming week. Ya and I'm not so sure about that sex song either. I agree, teddybears would be better. LOL. Sheesh. Anyhow, your daughter's little dance was adorable!

sorry that moose comment was from me!

Wow...life did happen indeed.

As for the performance -- yeah...what is with dance groups having to have children dance to "adult" music.

Where is the teddy bear stuff? Or at least Sponge Bob. ... something other than sex! It's everywhere. Why does it have to be in our kid's dance recitals.?

You are busy but at least it sounds like you are making progress. Sometimes I feel like I'm just turning in circles.

Hi Jonny's Mom,
I get really frustrated with the costumes and song selection. I want her to be in dance and she enjoys the recital, but it would be just as cute with a more appropriate song.

Hi Puppies,
I know the feeling. For everything I accomplished I have a list of 10 things that didn't get done!

Okay, maybe I was an air head in the 80's because I thought "I want candy" meant I want candy! She looked adorable! I am willing to bet that the person who picked the song didn't realize.

Hi Deb,

How did you do all of that and have time for a blog post too. You're like Super Woman!

Hi Barbara,
Thanks. :)

Wow, it sounds like you have a lot going on! :)

You know, I never even thought twice about that song - just took it at 'face value'. Huh.

I hate those weeks. Hopefully things settle down and settle in.

I don't know what you're talking about, Jayhawks are the best mythical bird that I can think of. ;)

That video was cute!
