Ability Tuesday

It's time again for Ability Tuesday, a time to focus on our children's ability, not their disability(ies).  You can either share your child's ability in the comment section or post your child's ability on your blog. I believe I've mentioned before I really am not a fan of childhood messes.  Fingerpaints rarely get opened in this house (ok, never) and I try to keep mealtime as mess free as possible.  As a result, I have always given my children dry cold cereal with milk on the side when they were younger.  Peanut was no exception.  However, recently she has insisted she eat cereal like her sisters, with the milk IN the bowl.  (Oh, the horrors!)

Peanut is somewhat proficient with a spoon, but would turn it upside down on the way to her mouth.  This works fine with sticky things like oatmeal or mashed potatoes, but not so well with liquids.  I could just envision the spilled milk all over the table, floor and Peanut (I start twitching just thinking of it.)  I did not relish having to change her again before she left for school.  However, she has proven her mom wrong once again.  Not only is she doing an excellent job of keeping the spoon right side up, most of the cereal and milk make it to her mouth.  She doesn't even need a bib to keep her shirt dry.  Her minor OCD takes care of the rest, too.  If any milk spills on the table, she alerts me so I can clean it up!  Yep, the kid is looking out for her mom's little idiosyncrasies already.
