The kids have been out of school for several days. Not because of snow days like so many other areas have experienced, but because of scheduled days off for professional days and parent teacher conferences. I am looking forward to having all the kids back in school and getting this house back in some sort of order. Unfortunately, with Peanut at home in the morning, that will still pose some problems.
Peanut can be a bit of a tornado at times. She grows extra arms that stretch and stretch to things that I thought were out of reach. As I clean one room, she is in another dumping all the toys out of the bins or emptying my linen closet. She gets in the bathroom and gets in her sister’s make-up. I had a brand new box of zip lock bags that she completely emptied out. The list goes on.
It’s frustrating because I can’t seem to get ahead. I have to take time out to clean up what was once nice and neat. I know I am not alone in this problem. My other girls did the same thing. But with Peanut it’s different in some ways. It’s almost like she is out of control; compelled to run from item to item flinging and dumping as she goes. The moment I come to clean up one mess she moves on to another. Yesterday she pulled all the books off her bookcase.
Even though I make her help clean up what she destroys, she continues to have these spurts of energy. I literally have to sit her down and hold her till she calms down. It’s like her little brain is on rapid fire and she can’t stop herself.
When is she going to grow out of this? I can’t wait till she goes to school all day so I have a few hours to get ahead of her.
All in a day’s work: (and then some)
Note:
This is her sister’s room that has a gate, but she figured out how to open it. This is just a small portion of the damage she caused.

AAUAUGUGUUAAAGAUUUUGH!
I'd go crazy! LOL!
That or you would have to come to terms that your house will never, ever be clean. Now you know why I don't do baseboards. (Well, part of the reason.)
I'm in the same boat that you're in. Carly does the very same thing. Removes all books off her bookshelf. Which sits in our hallway. Dumps all the toy bins. Spreads papers all over the floor, so she can "play school". I feel like I'm drowning in mess..I can never get ahead of her either. And she's in school all day!
@ ABC Mom - I know it won't get much better when she's at school all day. I have one day a month, for about 2 hours when my house is clean. The cleaning lady left, the toilets are all scrubbed, the kitchen sparkles and the clutter is at bay. ... Then the kids come home from school.
I'll take those little moments and just hold on, I guess.
Hee hee! Don't we all have this problem, though, to some extent? Sometimes I feel like all I do is nothing but pick up after everyone, and it certainly is frustrating.
Oh My! She does like to stay busy. :) It can only get better. :)
I truly don't know how you do it. I fear I'd just give up and learn to step over and walk around. Hopefully one day soon you will be able to look back and laugh... and miss it just a little because when she stops THIS there's no telling what else that you love her doing will also go by the wayside along that growing up road. Hang on, darlin. You are definitely on one helluva bumpy ride. xoxoxo
